Scotland Travel Resources
Here are Scotland travel resources that were very helpful. I found most of these after I planned my 2025 Adventure in Scotland, but what I learned made my trip even better.
WORKSHOPS
Plan Your Dream Trip To Scotland with Scotland Workshops by Wayfaring Kiwi, Yvette Webster and Chaotic Scot, Kay Gillespie. The first Scotland Travel Month with 10 workshops began in January 2026. There was an amazing lineup of guests with subjects including photography, the stories of Scotland, and travel locations. Since January, Kay and Yvette have had monthly workshops. I will admit to being addicted to having my monthly hour and a half escape to a new destination in Scotland.

BLOGS
There are several blogs that have been extremely helpful with all of the information about travel in Scotland.
- Wayfaring Kiwi where you can sign up for a free series, read free travel guides, schedule a 1-to-1 Zoom Consultation or an Itinerary Review. I highly recommend getting on the Wayfaring Kiwi email list. Yvette has special workshops for subscribers as well as discount codes. Wayfaring Kiwi Facebook Group
- Chaotic Scot will show you how to travel in Scotland by public transport. You can also book a 1:1 Travel Consultation to help with your travel planning. Chaotic Scot Facebook Group
- Scotland’s Stories is an award-winning Scotland Travel Blog sharing incredible stories! You can purchase the book Scotland’s Stories: Historic Tales for Incredible Places by Graeme Johncock on Amazon. I read my Kindle edition on the flight to Scotland. Scotland’s Stories Facebook page
- Migrating Miss shares her life on the Isle of Skye through her newsletter. You can book a tour with Sonja and her husband Phil at: Adventures Around Skye Private Tours or book their B&B. Isle of Skye – Travel Tips Facebook Group

TOURS
During my trip to Scotland I discovered the delight of guided tours. I learned so many interesting facts from our fabulous Walking Tours In Old Town Stirling guide. The Hop-On Hop-Off bus was a wonderful way to see Edinburgh. I chose the tour with the live guide because I love the personal stories and character that each guide adds to the experience.

MEMBERSHIPS
- National Trust for Scotland & National Trust for Scotland USA
- Historic Environment Scotland
- ETA LINK-get your ETA directly from GOV.UK. Getting your ETA from a second party source will cost more, take longer, and, quite possibly, be a total scam.

BOOKS
Several books were helpful for planning and for use during my trip to Scotland. However, I only took 3 actual books: George MacDonald, Cullen and Malcolm by Michael Phillips, Scotland the Best by Peter Irvine, and a pretty travel journal that a friend gave me. Keeping a journal while traveling is a brilliant way to keep all of the special memories alive.
These are the Kindle books that I took loaded on my iPad. I read Scotland’s Stories by Graeme Johncock and Wild History by James Crawford on the way to Scotland. It was the perfect start to an amazing adventure!
These are the books from which I took copious notes for my trip to Scotland.
I also had Kindle copies of The Scotland Reading List novels. These books were all downloaded on my iPad along with all of my notes for each of the books. It was incredible seeing all of the places that I have only imagined in all of the books.
