Day 16: Adventures in Scotland
Day 16: Adventures in Scotland was our last day in Scotland. On the road between our Queensferry Airbnb and Renfrew Airbnb there were so many choices for what to visit, but we had limited time. We had a 9am to 10:30am timeslot booked for Rosslyn Chapel and planned to eat at Scotia Bar, a 1792 pub in Glasgow.
When I was searching for places to stay, my search was all about location. The Queensferry Airbnb was conveniently located close to the bus stop for Edinburgh. It was also a fairly easy drive to Rosslyn Chapel.

Rosslyn Castle & Rosslyn Chapel
As soon as we knew our itinerary, we booked tickets for Rosslyn Chapel. Because of my research for Midlothian Council destination I also wanted to visit Rosslyn Castle. We left early enough to visit the castle before our chapel admission time. We were blessed with gorgeous early morning blue skies for pictures!
Roslin to Glasgow Cathedral
The historic village is spelled Roslin. Rosslyn Chapel and Rosslyn Castle use the family name ‘Rosslyn’. So the address is: Rosslyn Chapel, Chapel Loan, Roslin, UK. If you are looking online, the chapel is always ‘Rosslyn’, but the castle will have both spellings. It is only a tad confusing!

We had hoped to visit at least one of the places that were so close to our location. Sadly, there just wasn’t enough time.
Glasgow Cathedral
Because of the time constraints we could only visit Glasgow Cathedral. There are so many fascinating places to visit in Glasgow that are all close together. It is amazing to me how many people say that they didn’t enjoy their first time in Glasgow, but after learning more about Glasgow it becomes one of their favorite places. I did lots of research for Destination: Glasgow City Council and my only regret was not being able to spend days exploring!

Easy Driving Distance

I was so excited that we passed the Glasgow High Street Tollbooth Steeple on our way to Scotia Bar. It was incredible driving through so much history.
Glasgow Area Sites

Whatever your interest, there is something for everyone in Glasgow. According to Apple maps there are 30 museums in Glasgow.
The Burrell Collection art museum is at Pollok Country Park, where we visited after lunch at Scotia Bar.

I hadn’t realized how many sights were in walking distance of Scotia Bar.

Scotia Bar
Scotia bar, Glasgow’s oldest pub has all of the personality that you would expect from a pub that has been in existence since 1792. Sadly, we weren’t able to be there for the live music that is performed Thursday through Sunday nights.
Pollok Country Park
One of the reasons that we wanted to go to Pollok Country Park was for the Highland cows. My aunt and I are both crazy about hairy coos.

Where we parked wasn’t anywhere near the Highland Coos Pen and I didn’t walk far enough to reach the Highland Cattle Park.
I still had a lovely time taking pictures. Pollok Country Park is gorgeous. There were a lot of people out walking their doggies and I had fun talking to the owners and petting the doggies!
Our last venture in Scotland and we didn’t get lost, but we certainly thought we did! Fortunately we were able to pull over at Lochinch Sports Pavilion until we figured out we were going the right direction.

It would be easy to spend all day at Pollok Country Park. As the Google Map shows, there is much to see! Since we were leaving the next morning our time was limited. I didn’t get past Pollok House Gardens. The flowers were quite captivating.
Concluding Day 16, the Last Day of Adventures in Scotland
Day 16, our last day in Scotland was a little shorter because we had a lot of repacking. Actually, I was the one with major repacking!
We spent 16 days in Scotland with 18 days total travel. We only took carryon luggage which now needed to include fun bags for friends and family, along with my new wellies, all the guide books and my creamer from the Isle of Skye. My aunt says that I deserve my title as THE QUEEN OF PACKING!
The cosy, private well appointed annex Airbnb in Renfrewshire was fabulous for our last night. The Airbnb is in a great location that is close to the Glasgow airport. Our host was very friendly and helpful. We met so many wonderful people in Scotland. The Scottish people, as a whole, are very friendly and willing to help you. It was brilliant how total strangers would open up and tell us stories when we expressed an interest.
Another trip to Scotland is not possible this year, but I have been enjoying armchair traveling with Scotland workshops. Wayfaring Kiwi and The Chaotic Scot hosted an entire month of Scotland Travel workshops in January 2026 and have been doing monthly workshops since. April 29, 2026 is the Glasgow Workshop. If you can’t do the live workshop, the course will be available for purchase with their other courses: https://scotlandworkshop.com/
