Destination: The ‘Lothian’ Councils
In Destination: The ‘Lothian’ Councils we will be looking at East Lothian, Midlothian, and West Lothian councils. These councils border City of Edinburgh council. We will start with East Lothian Council which has much more to see than just Dunbar and beaches. It is also filled with history, hiking, and horses!
East Lothian Council

North Berwick & Longniddry

West Saltoun & Humbie

Musselburgh

Musselburgh & Newhailes

Midlothian Council
The reason that I included the Lothian Councils is because of Rosslyn Chapel. Of course, when I expanded Google maps, I found so much more! The one thing that I didn’t find was an explanation for spelling the village ‘Roslin’ and the chapel ‘Rosslyn’. The castle can be spelled both ‘Roslin’ and ‘Rosslyn’. If you know why there are two different spellings, please share in the comments!

Finishing Destination: The ‘Lothian’ Councils
When I started looking at the Lothian councils on Google maps, I only came up with a few places for each council. Once I expanded Google maps to really look, as you know from this post, there are so many places to see and things to do in each council. I keep having to remind myself to concentrate on what I do get to see in Scotland on this trip. There are so many amazing things that I don’t think that you can choose wrong for where to go or what to see. What I’ve seen in the Facebook travel groups is that people start planning their next trip back to Scotland before they even leave the airport!
