Destination: City of Edinburgh Council

There won’t be any bonus councils in Destination: City of Edinburgh Council. Of all of the councils, Edinburgh has the most Google Map images. That was a little shocking since I had really only considered Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, and Dean’s Village area.
We will start by looking at the outskirts and then move into the heart of Edinburgh. Get comfortable and let’s start exploring our City of Edinburgh Council destination!

Continuing Down Edinburgh from Queensferry
I was surprised with how much our destination: City of Edinburgh Council contains. Quite a bit of that is outside the actual city center. I am going to leave the city center for last.
Newliston visitor information is on the Historic Houses website. Many of the historic places to visit are through National Trust for Scotland (US membership), Historic Environment Scotland, or Historic Houses.
The rest are privately owned with visitor information on their website.
Remember from the UK Travel Tips that nearly everything needs to be booked well in advance. This includes NTfS and HES sites, even if you have member passes. I have been booking things AS SOON AS the dates are available. June is a busy time to visit Scotland. I’m a curious person, so I check back and most of our booking times are full soon after they have been opened for reservations.

Finishing Destination: City of Edinburgh Council
Edinburgh wasn’t on our itinerary in 2020. In fact, it wasn’t initially on the itinerary for this trip. However, we managed to squeak in a day for Edinburgh. I realize that you can’t see even close to what Edinburgh has to offer in one day, as you can see from all of the information in this post! This has definitely been a bit of an information overload. Although this is one of those times where I am grateful for whatever I’ll get to see and do, but I’m also making a list of things that I want to do the next time I get to visit Edinburgh.
The idea of this travel blog began as a way to share pictures and my trip with family and friends. I started it by organizing where I’ll be traveling in Scotland. It is now also a bit of a virtual tour through areas where I will be on this trip. So many places, so little time! This blog has me thinking about future travel in Scotland and places that I think friends would enjoy. So I have included all of that information. It is my deepest hope that it helps someone else plan a trip to this amazing country.
