Destination: Falkirk Council

My first thoughts about the Falkirk Council destination is of the Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies. However, as we will discover, there is so much more in this area. For a bonus we will also be looking at North Lanarkshire Council. Through both of these councils we will be able to follow the Antonine Wall that was built by the Romans in the AD 140s.

The Kelpies of Falkirk by Neil Wilks
By Stirling’s hills, where rivers weave,
Two giants rise, their tales to leave.
The Kelpies stand, proud steel and stone,
Guardians of the Forth, forever known.
Their manes cascade in silver light,
A tribute bold to power and might.
Once spirits wild, both dark and free,
Now tamed to grace this land’s decree.
They whisper tales of work and kin,
Of Clydesdales strong and lives within.
Of rivers forged by toil and hand,
Of horses that shaped Scotland’s land.
But still the myth beneath them stirs,
Of water-beasts and eerie murmurs.
A warning lies in every stream,
Beware the Kelpies’ shadowed gleam.
Yet here they rise for all to see,
Symbols of strength and artistry.
By Stirling’s gate, they watch and stand,
The Kelpies, legends of this land.

Bonus Destination: North Lanarkshire

After looking at Falkirk Council as a travel destination, North Lanarkshire seems small. However, it packs a punch with content! First, the Antonine Wall and Roman history in Scotland continues in this council. Second, there’s another Andy Scott sculpture. Arria isn’t quite as iconic as the Kelpies. To be fair, the Kelpies stand heads and flowing manes above everything! Third… Actually, let’s just dive into the fabulous North Lanarkshire council!

Finishing our destinations of Falkirk Council and North Lanarkshire Council
For me, these destinations have WOW! factor. They have everything from Bronze age architecture to theme parks. I’m grateful for every bit of time that I get to spend in Scotland, yet it seems like it’s not nearly enough. It will be interesting to see just where this Scotland adventure takes me!
